Examples
Here is an example of how you can turn agency life into a popular webisode. This series could act as a good reference to refer to when we come to shooting our mockumentary.
Subliminal advertising
In our mockumentary we propose that we will be subliminally advertising the NPG by mentioning it all the time etc. Here is a great example of how susceptible people are to subliminal advertising.
More research and inspiration
So our idea is to create a mocumentary of us solving the NPG brief. When we are being documented solving the brief we will come up with the idea "a break from the brief" . Thus saying that the people in the creative industry live such a hectic lifestyle - the NPG is somewhere to go to get away from in all and install some creativity and inspiration.
Here is a video we found that sums up the idea that we will be coming up with whilst being filmed.

Equipment.
Planning is key!

The planning of the mocumentary is essential. This picture shows Tom making adjustments to our plan. The plan includes: what day and what venue will be filmed, what actors and actresses will be in the scene and what clothes we will be wearing. This is a massive operation that we have planned, these minor adjustments will all be worth it in the end when it all goes swimmingly.
Finding actors and actresses.
Finding places to film
After storyboarding and scripting we had to find venues for our mocumentary. Here are just a few of our proposed venues. These are the ones in Uni but there are several out of university.
This is our Advertising studio room. This room will play a large part in our idea process in the mocumentary.

This is the board room in our uni. Here we will be filming us being briefed by the account handler and presenting our final concept to the client.

This light box will help create a scene when we a re filming the illustration scene.

The main lecture theatre has a podium in, and will make a great host for us to accept our award in our penultimate episode.

A helping hand.
Story-boarding and scripting.
BIG IDEA!

Okay so after weeks of research and deliberation here is our proposed idea.
The big idea, as you can see, is to create a "mocumentary". The idea came when we realized we were the target market. Throughout our time working on the brief we had visited the NPG for research more that four times. So our initial idea was to just submit the brief. (it was the brief that made us visit the NPG) : After more brainstorming we decided it would be cool to document us trying to solve the brief and 'subliminally' advertise the NPG. So now we are settled on our idea we have a huge task ahead of us. Neither of us have tested the waters of film making before, but there is a first time for everything. Its going to be hard work, but we are looking forward to the challenge ahead.

Another Banksy
Crit feedback

Last week we presented our 'Big Idea'. (A mocumentary of our efforts to try and solve the NPG brief.) The idea went down well and surprisingly didn't need much of an explanation. This was a victory in itself. We had some good feedback and came out of the crit positive. (until we spoke to Lucia who declared her hate for our idea - mainly because she couldn't understand it, there is always one eh!) At the crit we also spoke to Monica who said that we could make our website easily, This was good news as the website plays an integral part in the idea. Thank you 'Design For Advertising' for your useful feedback.

Quick Example
"L'homme 100 têtes" 3ème prix Panasonic'Art 2008 from Julien Lassort on Vimeo.
Here is the work of Julien Lassort. Just an interesting way of showing portraits. Also a good example of showing portraits in film, something like this would make for a good viral. Take note joe and tom!

Museum Of Childhood
Here are three print ad's for V&A's Museum Of Childhood in Bethnal Green.

I really like the art direction in these three. The art direction relates well to the subject matter and subtly showcases what the is on exhibition at the museum. This is a key aspect to keep in mind when we come to creating print ads - not only does it have to be within the brand guidelines of the National Portrait Gallery but also showcase what is on offer. The art direction will play a key role in answering the brief.

Portrait on a portrait

These paintings are the work of artist James Kuhn. Kuhn is a portrait artist who uses his own face as a canvas. Interesting use of medium, fresh, contemporary, different and exiting. Kuhn's work has received popular reviews on the Internet and recently had some work published in London newspapers. Check out more of his work on Flickr where he's work was first seen and celebrated.
Here's a video shpwing how he brings his portraits to life using facial expressions.
